Choose a deliverable that changes a decision
OpenAI calls this experience ChatGPT Work. Its official introduction describes delegating substantial tasks that use files, plugins, and available tools to produce reviewable work. Access depends on the tools and connections available in your workspace. Read the current introduction.
For keyword research, ask for five opportunities your team can evaluate this week. A thousand phrases with invented volume estimates create more work. Your brief should show the customer question, supporting evidence, relevant page, suggested action, uncertainty, and the reason the opportunity matters to the business.
Prepare a source pack
- A short description of your customer, offer, geography, and constraints.
- A current list of your pages and the job each page performs.
- A dated Search Console export, with its filters documented.
- Permission-cleared customer questions or sales notes.
- A small set of relevant competitor pages or a licensed keyword-gap export.
Label the source date and origin. Remove personal details that are unnecessary for the analysis. If a metric is missing, leave it missing. Ask Work to distinguish your own measured data, a third-party estimate, and a suggested idea.
Use a prompt with clear evidence rules
Create a five-opportunity search brief for the audience and offer in business-context.txt.
Use the attached page inventory and dated research exports.
For each opportunity, include the customer question, source reference,
existing page match, proposed action, business fit, effort, and uncertainty.
Do not invent search volume, competitor revenue, rankings, or results.
Flag conflicting date ranges and missing data. Recommend whether to update
an existing page or create a new one. Return the brief for review.Add the permitted public research domains if you want current web research. Name the specific connected tool only when it is actually available. A prompt does not create access to an account or prove that a report was retrieved.
Review the reasoning, not just the layout
Open the evidence behind the top recommendation. Does the source support the customer problem? Is a competitor page relevant to your buyer or merely popular? Would the proposed page add a useful explanation or tool you can actually provide?
Illustrative opportunity: a service business already has an installation page, but customer notes repeatedly ask how long preparation takes. A focused preparation section and checklist may be better than a second page targeting a near-identical phrase. The recommendation should identify the existing page and explain the tradeoff.
Turn one recommendation into a tested change
After reviewing the brief, choose one page and write its acceptance criteria. Keep the research sources with the content brief. Hand a development task to Codex or another coding workflow if implementation is needed, and require a preview and relevant checks.
For a recurring review, define the source refresh, date comparison, output, and owner before scheduling anything. The workflow described here is a research pattern; reading the article does not connect your accounts or activate a task. Judge it by decisions improved and review time saved, including time spent correcting the output.
Sources and editorial approach
AI-assisted practical guidance prepared for Website Traffic. Product statements were checked against the linked documentation. Workflows and prioritization methods are editorial recommendations; examples are illustrative, not customer results. Product access and interfaces can change.
Put the idea to work
Choose one page or one opportunity. Keep the evidence and record what you change.
